Cybernetik’s Case Packer for Shrink Packs is a customizable robotic carton packer system for multiple shrink pack variants. The set up uses a single pick and place robot with dynamic gripper sizing for simultaneous loading of two shrink packs. Rapid and simple changes to the working width on the infeed conveyor enables the handling of shrink pack variants. Carton guide funnels ensure accurate placement of shrink packs. An optional case erector can be added upstream to further automate the process.
Shrink packs and cases arriving on separate infeed conveyors of the case packer system are held at the correct location. For the cases, the position is below the carton guide funnels that ensure precise last mile placement. Thereafter, the pick and place robot lifts the shrink packs with the gripper fingers moving outward and sideways to confirm to the case positions. The funnels descend with the gripper during the last part of the placing process to maintain accuracy and productivity. Integrating a carton forming machine on the upstream of the robotic carton packer system boosts the level of automation. Similar addition of a case top and bottom taping system followed by a case palletizer at the downstream makes this an end-to-end automated setup.

How It Works
01
Infeed
Shrink packs and empty cartons arrive on separate lines. These are held in position by inbuilt referencing systems viz. carton guide funnels on the case side and the width adjustor with end limiter on the shrink pack side. Optional case erector is available upstream.

Pick & Place
Robot with tailored grippers simultaneously pick and place two shrink packs in the case. The carton guide funnels descend for the last part of the placing process for accuracy.

Case Taping & Labelling
In-transit taping of the case top and bottom followed by application of label with batch or other data.

Post Loading Quality Checks
Underweight cartons are rejected.
